Why is the viscosity of potassium formate drilling fluid neither too high nor too low?

(5) The cuttings form a fake mud cake on the well wall, which is likely to cause jamming.
(6) Cement slurry tends to cross groove during cementing, which affects cementing quality.

If the viscosity of the drilling fluid is too low, it is not conducive to carrying cuttings. The sand in the well sinks quickly and scours the well wall, which can easily cause the wall to peel, collapse, and leak.

The conditions of deep wells are generally more complicated than shallow wells. In order to effectively carry cuttings and suspended cuttings when using drilling fluids, the viscosity tends to be higher. When the wellbore collapses, there is a lot of grit, or there is a slight loss, the viscosity is appropriately increased in order to eliminate the complex conditions downhole. From the perspective of increasing the drilling speed, new requirements are put on the viscosity of the drilling fluid. The viscosity of the drilling fluid should decrease with the increase of the flow rate gradient, which is the characteristic of shear viscosity reduction.
