STPP technical grade is used as a scale inhibitor in water treatment

 The scale inhibitor refers to a type of medicament which has a poorly soluble inorganic salt capable of dispersing in water, prevents or interferes with precipitation and scaling of a poorly soluble inorganic salt on a metal surface, and maintains a good heat transfer effect of a metal device. STPP technical grade is an inorganic phosphorus-containing polymer scale inhibitor.


Water shortage has always been a major problem facing our country, especially in recent years, with the rapid development of industrial production in China, industrial water consumption has risen sharply. If the direct current cooling water is replaced by the circulating cooling water, more than 95% of the water can be saved. But after replacing DC cooling water with circulating water, with the continuous circulation and concentration of cooling water in use, the mineral content in water will continue to increase, and a large number of dissolved oxygen, dust, spores and bacteria will be brought into the cooling tower, resulting in deterioration of water quality, resulting in much more serious corrosion, scaling, bacteria and algae problems in the whole cooling water system when DC cooling water is used. The effective way to solve these problems is to add scale inhibitor in circulating cooling water. STPP is also used as scale inhibitor in water treatment.


In cooling water treatment, the most commonly used inorganic phosphorus-containing polymer scale inhibitor is STPP. The addition of trace amounts of polyphosphate to water can destroy the normal growth of crystals such as CaCO3, thereby preventing the formation of CaCO3 scale. The scale inhibition mechanism is mainly adsorbed on the active point of the crystal surface by partial functional groups or electrostatic forces in the molecule, thereby slowing the growth of the crystal, so that the crystal remains in the microcrystalline state and increases its solubility. This scale inhibition mechanism gives the agent a threshold effect.
